PREVIOUS WEBINAR PRESENTATIONS (recordings available):

February 2016. ISO 9001:2015 your questions answered. – A presentation covering the problems with the ISO 9001:2008 standard and new and changed requirements, the process approach requirement, the risk based thinking requirement and significant impact on Leadership.

March 1, 2016.  ISO 9001:2015 implementation and transition – This 60 minute presentation (40 minute presentation, 20 minute questions), explores in more detail the key activities that you need to consider when implementing ISO 9001:2015 or transitioning from ISO 9001:2008.  These topics were briefly touched on in one slide in our February presentation but here we give them more attention.  Topics that we cover include:  Planing and things to consider, challenges with leadership, documentation, new processes, dealing with the certification body – and much more.  The purpose is to give you enough information to be able to formulate your own plan.

April 12, 2016. The Certification Body perspective.  – The ISO 9001:2015 requirements can be interpreted differently by implementer and auditor.  We have a certification body president to state policy for interpreting and auditing ISO 9001:2015.  We anticipate a 30 minute presentation giving clear interpretation of some of the more difficult requirements in ISO 9001 and a description of what is expected to meet minimum requirements and probable best practices.  You then get 30 minutes to ask questions – just in case we missed something.

May 10, 2016.  Leadership Presentation – Leadership needs a different kind of presentation.  they need information presented succinctly, professionally and sensitively.  This presentation is designed to inform leadership all they need to move forward with their ISO 9001:2015 project.  Invite your top management to spend an incredibly valuable 30 minutes to get the most important information on the new ISO 9001:2015 standard.

June 7, 2016. S.W.O.T. – a simple technique for 4.1 Context in ISO 9001:2015 – This presentation discusses solutions for ISO 9001:2015 organizations to address 4.1 context of the organization. There is a lot of confusion over what the new standard is asking for and how it will be audited.  There are questions about what should be included and what can legitimately be excluded?  What level of detail must i go to?  Who needs to do this?  How do I get Leadership involved? And do I even have to have a procedure? SWOT is a simple technique for identifying whats important with an organization, both internal and external, good and bad. It is commonly know, easy to use and, with a few clarifications can be used to meet the requirements of 4.1 Context of the Organization.  This presentation gives the background, describes the process and answers your questions.

July 7, 2016. Struggling Against Nature – Preventing Human Error in ISO 9001:2015 – “To err is human,” and now the new ISO 9001:2015 requires us to take this truth head-on in section 8.5.1. Quality problems caused by human error have existed since the invention of the wheel. Now quality professionals can no longer attribute “human error” as a cause that cannot be eliminated. Methods exist to prevent human error, many of them were present in the old version of ISO 9001, and these methods will be carried into the new version of the standard.
Through an exploration of key aspects of the new ISO 9001 standard and real-life examples, this presentation will display best practices for eliminating human error using a hierarchy of controls present in other sections of the ISO 9001 standard. This presentation was delivered at the ISO 9000 World Conference 2016.

August 3, 2016. Evaluating Actions to Address Risks and Opportunities – Risk-based thinking has changed the way organizations address ISO 9001:2015. The concepts of risk-based thinking go beyond simply identifying risks and opportunities and taking action to address risks and opportunities. The standard also requires organizations evaluate the actions taken to address risks and opportunities. This means more than simply monitoring to see if risks have manifested and opportunities have been realized. This presentation will discuss how to evaluate actions taken from a process-based approach to understand if the actions were effective, and if the processes truly minimize risk and maximize opportunity.

September 13, 2016. One Year On: Review of the New ISO 9001:2015 – Requirements – A discussion of the buzz in the field regarding the new requirements in ISO 9001:2015. We received a lot of feedback from our sources so decided to hold two webinars in this “Lessons Learned” series. This webinar focused on what has been heard from the field about the requirements.

October 11, 2016. One Year On: Review of the New ISO 9001:2015 – Auditing, Registration Issues with Transition – We received a lot of feedback from our sources so have decided to hold two webinars in this “Lessons Learned” series. This month’s webinar will be about auditor interactions, registrar concerns, and transition auditing experiences.

November 8, 2016. ISO 9001:2015 Risk Based Thinking Requirements for Top Management – A presentation of how the risk based thinking structure benefits top management. With the introduction of risk-based thinking to ISO 9001:2015, quality management systems can no longer get away with simply playing defense against defects, service failures, and customer complaints. The new requirements dictate opportunities to address issues related to an organization’s strategic direction and purpose. These new requirements provide valuable tools for top management.

December 6, 2016. How to Select a Management System Registrar – How to effectively select a registrar for your management system certification. Having a great registrar is a critical component of management system certification schemes. You want a registrar that is effective, efficient, honest, trustworthy, and with a high level of technical expertise. The auditors who will assess your system officially work for the registrar, so you need to make sure the registrar has effective processes for selecting auditors, training them, and defining audit processes that have your (and your customers’) best interests in mind. We want hard working auditors with an eye for detail to find issues we didn’t detect, and we don’t want nit picky auditors who can’t tell the trivial many from the critical few. The registrar is the fulcrum of this delicate balance.

January 10, 2017. What to do After Registrars Issue a Nonconformance – To discuss the important steps required to effectively address nonconformances issued by a registrar auditor. While nonconformances are not desired, registrar auditors will cite them when objective evidence indicates requirements have not been satisfied. Addressing nonconformances issued by registrar auditors is different than what is done with nonconformances discovered internally. The requirements of the registrar must be satisfied, in addition to all the work typically done to find cause and prevent recurrence. This presentation will discuss the important steps and considerations to make sure nonconformances can be addressed effectively and jump through that registrar hoop with as little extra work as possible.

February 7, 2017. ISO 17025 New Version – Sneak Peek of Requirements in DIS – To review the important changes introduced in the draft international standard ISO 17025. ISO 17025 provides general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. This standard is under revision, and we expect the final version to be released later in 2017. This webinar will review what is known about the coming changes to ISO 17025 based on the contents of the DIS (draft international standard). Valuable information will be presented, whether your organization is currently registered to ISO 17025, considering registration to ISO 17025, or want to improve performance of your testing lab or calibration process.

March 7, 2017. General ISO 9001:2015 Awareness for Employees – To present the basic information all employees need to know about ISO 9001:2015. We are pleased to provide you this free on demand resource for refresher training, orientation training, contractor training, management training, and for employees in preparation for registrar audits. Registrar auditors gather much of their information by speaking with personnel who perform work within the management system. ISO 9001:2015 includes requirements associated with the quality policy, objectives, awareness, training, and organizational knowledge (to name a few) that everyone who works under the organization’s control is expected to know. This presentation will provide the basic information everyone needs to know to ensure a successful (and as stress-free as possible) audit experience.

April 4, 2017. Generating Effective Audit Checklist Questions – Instruction on how to develop effective audit checklist questions for all management system audits, including internal, supplier, and third party audits of quality, environmental, and health/safety management systems.

May 16, 2017. Finally, an Opportunity for Management to Take Back Control of ISO 9001 – the Impact of ISO 9001:2015 on Leadership – How the new requirements for demonstrating leadership provide new tools for top management within the QMS. Also addresses how the new requirements affect the approach auditors take when auditing top management, and how top management can demonstrate conformity to the new requirements during audit interactions.

July 11, 2017, Writing Precise and Effective Nonconformity Statements – A presentation of the importance of accurate, precise, complete, and concise nonconformity statements, and provide instruction on how to write effective nonconformity statements. This presentation helps auditors learn how to write effective nonconformities. It also helps auditees understand what a well-documented nonconformity contains, to help their corrective action system by keeping garbage out of the corrective action process.

August 8, 2017, How to Become an Auditor Auditing at a professional level can be fun, educational, and simultaneously intense and demanding. There are some upsides to becoming a professional ISO auditor working for the certification bodies. The pay can be quite lucrative although on the downside it is often quite hard work, often involves travel, and if you contract yourself then it might not come with benefits. Conversely, many auditors work part time to supplement their retirement, take advantage of the travel, and enjoy the social interaction and the position of authority and respect. This webinar will discuss the steps and considerations involved to becoming a professional auditor.
